Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage (National Treasure – Book of Secrets, Leaving Las Vegas) stars in KNOWING, a gripping action-thriller of global proportions about a professor who stumbles on terrifying predictions about the future and sets out to prevent them from coming true. Rose Byrne (Damages, Troy), Chandler Canterbury (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and Lara Robinson (Saved) also star in director Alex Proyas’ (I, Robot) riveting feature.
OK so gripping may be a bit of a stretch, well a lot of a stretch. There are some decent-ish special effects scattered through, but they are hidden by a so so plot and a truly gall inducing ending. As for Mr. Cage, sorry you picked yet another bum film to star in. Don’t get me wrong here I did actually manage to watch the whole film, despite wishing I had switched it off just before the end. The plane crash was visually stunning but for some reason I just didn’t care, the film didn’t draw me in or engage me at all.
I had so much empathy for the characters and plot that I found myself wishing the whole alien/religious sideline would just go nowhere and everybody would die in the fiery end of the world. Oh and that’s another thing, I cant call this a spoiler because you know exactly what’s going to happen right from the beginning, it had less mystery than the Teletubbies.
