Tumble down the rabbit hole with Alice for a fantastical adventure from Walt Disney Pictures and Tim Burton. Inviting and magical, Alice In Wonderland is an imaginative new twist on one of the most beloved stories of all time. Alice (Mia Wasikowska), now 19 years old returns to the whimsical world she first entered as a child and embarks on a journey to discover her true destiny
I really wasn’t sure about this film. Tim Burton has produced some fantastic and dark works and of course Mr Depp is never better than when he’s playing a completely bonkers character. But still and in spite of this films PG rating I wasn’t sure the kids would be able to sit through it without running out crying at some point. I decided to let them watch it anyway, and had a secret bet all to myself on how long it would be before each of my boys decided they had had enough ;)
To my surprise not only did they both sit enthralled through the whole film, they even loved watching the frightful Jabberwocky get decapitated. Chips of the old block those boys. I must also admit to loving the film. Mia is charming and ballsy and Depp is… well he’s Depp as we have come to know him and brilliant as usual. Actually my wife remarked recently that she doesn’t have a clue what Depp looks like in real life any more, perhaps he doesn’t do real life these days.
Some of the scenes are a little brutal and an odd word or two may make the more sensitive parent flinch but let’s be honest, everyone knows Burton and his style these days and this is one of the least dark films he’s done in a very long time so sit back relax and sink into Wonderland one more time.
