This was a joy to compose. I walked up and down the quay side several times to find exactly the right spot. What I was trying to achieve was a blending of lines from the foreground through to the background so that rather than just a random bunch of boats the eye is led through the picture. What I managed to get was a clear arc of boats leading to the edge of the houses that then continues up and over the hill, almost forming a full circle. It’s just a shame the light and conditions weren’t better and didn’t look like improving all day. The sky was just a bit too flat and the sea a bit too grey and I really didn’t want to hack this image too much.
